The Walter Family
Missionaries to Thailand for 12 years
Now bringing people to Christ in Columbus, OH
Tim and Sherry Walter and Ashlee, Joshua and Jonathan moved to Columbus, Ohio, in January of 2006. Tim is on staff at a church-plant to the International students at Ohio State University. The church is currently running around 150 people, but a significant portion of the congregation graduates every year, so there is a constant change in the make up of the church. The church is currently meeting in a community center, but is pursuing the purchase of a church building in the same neighborhood. The church is bringing the gospel to students who may have never heard it before. While some of the students stay in the U.S. after graduation, many of them return to their home countries with a new-found hope and joy and automatically become missionaries to their families and countrymen. A number of the students that attend are seeking but have not yet made commitments.
Tim is involved with mentoring students and teaching them leadership skills. These students put their learning to practice by leading Bible studies and taking on other roles in the church. Tim and Sherry also host a home Bible study every week, and Sherry started a very successful Sunday School program for the growing number of young children at the church. The last weekend of April, the church sponsored a church-wide retreat. There is special emphasis placed on making commitments to Christ as Lord of their lives. Please pray for the Walter family as they serve God among the students at Ohio State University.
