What We Believe
The purpose of Central Christian Church centers in the person of Jesus Christ. We have been called together in Christ to unite in commitment to him and his teaching and to express His life and love in the world.
The Trinity
We believe God exists as three persons in one: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Deut. 6:4-5; 1 Tim. 2:5-6; 2 Cor. 13:14). God is the ultimate judge of each person (Rom. 2:16; 14:10; Heb. 9:27). Jesus is the Savior and Redeemer of those who choose to believe in him (Acts 4:12). The Holy Spirit is the one who changes us from the inside out (John 3:5; Rom. 12:2; Titus 3:5). Our job, as human beings, is to love one another as Christ has loved us (John 13:34-35; 15:17).
Lordship of Christ
We emphasize the unity of all Christians under the Lordship of Christ as expressed in the New Testament basis of personal faith in Jesus Christ (1 Cor. 8:6; Eph. 4:4-6; 1 Tim. 2:5).
Bible As Our Authority
We have no written creed, but rather place our beliefs on the Bible as our authority for knowing God, and living as He would have us to live in the world and in the shared fellowship of His Church. We believe the Bible is God's Word and it is the ultimate source of truth (2 Tim. 3:16).
We are an autonomous congregation exercising our ministry under the authority of Christ and the New Testament. For this reason we belong to no denomination -- we are Christians only.
Salvation
Salvation cannot be purchased or earned. It is a free gift from God provided by Jesus' sacrifice on the cross and is received through faith (Eph. 2:8-10). It is available to every one who believes and accepts Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord (John 3:16). In obedience to Christ's commands and the example of the Apostles, we practice believer's immersion (Acts 2:38; Rom. 6:3-7) and weekly celebrate the Lord's death, burial and resurrection in the Lord's supper (Luke. 22:19; Acts 2:42; 20:7).
Leadership and Christian Unity
We seek to serve under the shepherding and direction of the Eldership established by the Apostles for the guidance of each individual congregation (1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; 1 Peter 5:2).
We plead for the unity of all Christians in Jesus Christ (John. 17:20-21; Rom. 15:5-7).
We encourage one another as a community of faith to grow in servant hood to our Lord Jesus with our time, talents, and tithing (Malachi 3:6-13; Heb. 10:23-25).
